ABOUT GARWIN “GRAY” POWERS
I’m not an academic researcher. I didn’t come to this work through psychology, linguistics, or computer science.
My background is in petrophysics — a field where you learn to read patterns in noisy data, interpret pressure systems, and make decisions when the information is incomplete. That work shaped how I see the world. It taught me that every system — rocks, reservoirs, people, organizations — has a structure. And if you learn to read the structure, you can understand the behavior.
When modern AI systems arrived, I started applying those same pattern‑recognition skills to something new: how humans and agentic AI systems interpret, distort, and stabilize meaning.
I didn’t expect it to turn into a framework. I didn’t expect it to turn into White Papers. And I didn’t expect it help me write a book.
Over the past several months, working alongside AI systems on a long‑form creative project, I discovered something I didn’t go looking for — a set of observable, measurable patterns in how humans and AI systems build meaning together, lose coherence, and recover it. That work became the Drift Framework.
This website is where I share that work.
The White Papers here are the result of a collaboration between my pattern‑recognition background and the analytical strengths of modern AI systems. They’re not the product of years of institutional research — they’re the product of months of intense exploration, rapid iteration, and a willingness to follow the patterns wherever they led.
My fiction explores these same ideas through story and character. But this site is the home of the research side — the frameworks, insights, and tools that emerged from this unexpected partnership between human intuition and AI reasoning. If there’s a theme to all of it, it’s this: patterns tell the truth, and collaboration reveals the patterns.
